Abstract

Widyaningtyas Kusuma Wardani 13PSC01575. THE DIFFERENTATION of CIRC MODEL and PBL MODEL to IMPROVE THE CAPABILITY READING THE MAIN IDEA IN CLASS IX MA ISLAMIC CENTER BIN BAS YOGYAKARTA 2 and TERM 2015/2016 The purpose of this research are 1) To identify the capability diferentation in reading the main idea of the students of XI class of MA Islamic Center Bin Baz Yogyakarta by using CIRC model and PBL model. 2) to verify the effectivity of CIRC model in teaching reading the main idea at XI class of MA Islamic Center Bin Baz Yogyakarta. This is a quantitative research. The researches employed quasi experimental methode with nonequivalent control group design and use simple random sampling technique. She involved XI class of MA Islamic Center Bin Baz yogyakarta as the population of the research. Based on the technique, found that the students of XI Agama 2 as the experimental and the students of XI IPA 2 as the control class. Each class consist of 24 students. The collecting data used pretest and posttest technique. Pearson correllation is used to validate the intrument and Alpha Cronbach reliability test to show the reliability index of pretest and posttest instrument. Before having data analysis, the normality test and homogenity test were conducted to show the pretest and posttest score were normal and homogen. The data analysis used t- test. By using t-test calculation, the result indicated that there were a significant diferentation between control class group and experimental class group. The control group had tcritical = 5,471 > ttable = 1,697 with dk 23, while the experimental group had tcritical = 14,692 > ttable = 1,679 with dk 23. It showed that there were improvement in experimental group and means that CIRC model in experimental group was more effective than PBL model in control group. Therefore, the researcher conclude that there were significant differentiation in posttest result of reading main idea capability by using CIRC model in experimental group and PBL model in control group. CIRC is an effective model that can applied in teaching reading the main idea in experimental class.
